Perched on its rocky outcrop overlooking the Meuse, the Citadel of Dinant makes an impression from the very first glance. From its heights, the valley stretches as far as the eye can see, the town appears miniature below, and you instinctively understand why this site was fought over, defended, and coveted for centuries.
Inside, the HistoPad — an augmented reality tablet — opens the doors to another era. Walls come back to life, rooms reveal their secrets, and a thousand years of the fortress’s history unfolds before you in an immersive and interactive way. Adults can delve into the military, political, and architectural challenges that shaped the site through the ages, while children embark on a treasure hunt through the different rooms. Everyone explores at their own pace, turning the visit into a shared adventure.
For an even richer experience, the 3-in-1 package combines admission to the Citadel, the HistoPad experience, and a cruise on the Meuse River — a wonderful way to discover Dinant both from the land and from the water, all in the course of one unforgettable day.
