With a tranquil location at the edge of lush green woods, this charming and spacious house is perfect for relaxing holidays.
The minute you arrive you will be charmed by the character of this large house: together with its extensive private grounds, it's more like a small estate than a typical holiday cottage. The huge living room with its impressive wood-burning stove is perfect for warming up after a forest hike, and the combined kitchen/dining-room offers plenty of informal space for up to 14 persons. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms – with a further four bedrooms upstairs there is a total of 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms (all ensuite). There's a further shower in the top floor relaxation suite, where you'll also find a good-sized sauna - an added luxury that's just one of the special things about this top quality rental.
As welcoming as the house is, we suspect you'll be spending a lot of time outside on the wide, elevated terrace, with its views of the garden, pond and woods. The grounds are ideal for relaxing and for playing with children – there's even a ping-pong table – but please note that the pond is not secured and children will need to be closely supervised.
The house is located in Sivry-Rance, just 5km from the little town of Sivry itself - where you'll find a bakery, pharmacy, and small supermarket.
This part of the Ardennes is great for long walks and leisurely rambles, and there's plenty to explore both in Sivry-Rance and further afield, including the marble museum at Rance, the Aquascope nature centre at Virelles and the Eau d'Heure lakes and dam: a ride on the 'Red Crocodile' is sure to be a highlight of your holidays.
An easy 20-minute drive takes you to Chimay, the best-known Trappist brewery in Belgium. Here you can discover the rich flavours of these delicious beers, and the cheeses that complement them.
And just 4km over the French border is the tourist resort of Val Joly where your group can experience a whole range of exciting activities, including fishing, sailing, and archery.

Rustgevende omgeving met wandelmogelijkheden rondom. Alles wat we nodig hadden was aanwezig in het huis. Beetje verouderd maar tegelijk charmant. Eigenaar woont rechtover dus flexibel qua aankomsttijd.

Quelques rares bémols, très mineurs, ne nous ont pas empêché de passer un excellent week-end dans un lieu reposant et très agréable. Le propriétaire est très sympathique et a été à l'écoute de nos impressions. La région vaut le détour, idéal pour se poser. Excellente boulangerie de pains au levain à 3km tenue par des passionnés.

Prijs niet in verhouding met geboden kwaliteit. Hadden toch beter verwacht. Geen toilet op gelijkvloers, moet naar boven in de slaapkamers voor een toilet te vinden. Borden en glazen waren niet proper afgewassen. Alles is wat pover, oud en armtierig, ook het meubilair. Geeft een afgewoonde indruk. Zeer mooie omgeving en goede ligging.

Fotos en realiteit zijn afwijkend wat inrichting betreft. Er waren een aantal mankementen die niet zouden mogen voor een huis van die prijs: afwasmachine deed het niet maar heb ikzelf opgelost, sommige douchekoppen zijn serieus verkalking, een bed was nogal kramikelig. Maar sauna was prima en ook buiten/omgeving was prima.

Leuk, groot huis met wat achterstallig onderhoud. Eigenaar is zeer hulpvaardig en vriendelijk. Zeer rustig gelegen huis in mooie omgeving. Fijne week doorgebracht met vriendengroep van 9. Verwarming voldoende voor winters verblijf.

alles voor een 3plus aanwezig, doch kwaliteit ondermaats. Een van ons had de deur naar het terras plots in haar handen. Een technieker kwam langs en zei letterlijk dat wij niets verkeerd hadden gedaan. De reparatie zou vlot te regelen zijn met een kleine pin onderaan die blijkbaar versleten was. De eigenaar wil dit wel op ons verhalen wat wij niet zullen aanvaarden

Comme indiqué précédemment, il est bien regrettable que ce gîte situé dans un lieu particulièrement agréable - bordure de forêt, étang à proximité - ne soit pas chauffé ? En septembre les nuits et certaines journées sont déjà fraîches - la sensation d’humidité et de froid était particulièrement désagréable. Nous regrettons également qu’il nous ait été impossible de contacter qui que ce soit, la personne de contact désignée ou le propriétaire ?

Nice house in the middle of nature - secluded and intimate. There was excellent heating, fully equipped kitchen, great barbecue (on coal) covered from the rain (if needed). Big salon for the gathering of maximum 12 people. We even fished 5 little fishes from the pond. Sauna was excellent. The rooms have a vintage vibe and some of the rooms could be slightly refurbished for more comfort.

Très chouette maison à la déco originale, située à l'entrée du bois dans un cadre magnifique. Le confort général est très bon. Nous avons apprécié le sauna et l'accueil par le propriétaire. Le wifi gratuit supplée à l'absence de réseau téléphonique.
